DC Roadrunners 10K Tech-shirt spotted at a relay race in Nevada!
Coach Peter was photographed wearing his dcrrc 10K tech-shirt, the one designed by Jeanne, at the 72.3-mile Lake Tahoe Relay in California and Nevada last Saturday. He was at Zephyr Cove in Nevada, having just finished the first leg of the relay, a 9.6 mile run at 6250 feet altitude, in 1:18:56 (8:13).
He handed off to coach Kristin who then ran the 8.2-mile second leg that ended with a hill that climbed 700 feet at the finish! That's like a dozen Capitol Hills lined up back-to-back-to-back with no apparent end in sight!
Kristin handed off to TKG alumni Hallie who ran the 10.3 mile third leg in a smoking 1:30:30 (8:47), picking off nine runners along the way. She barely missed being taken out herself by an oversized Winnebago, alertly ducking under its protruding mirrors as it passed by her.
Eventually the baton went to coach Rhea who ran the seventh and final leg, a 10.5 mile run starting with a monstrous hill climb that ended on a narrow ledge road (with traffic coming) that had a sheer dropoff of hundreds of feet on both sides! She ran down eight miscreants who got away from the rest of the team and the team placed 76th out of 97 teams in eleven hours and thirty-two minutes (9:34).
Not bad for a bunch of flatlanders, a Band of Outsiders.

You guys were, ah, so fast. Not bad, indeed, especially at that altitude. What do you do at sea level?
